Make Up you own mind on Tanning...!
Harmful Effects of Ultraviolet Light Exposure
Ultraviolet light is what provides a natural tan. The two bands of ultraviolet light, UVA and UVB, penetrate the skin, causing pigment darkening and an increase in melanin levels. Long-term exposure to ultraviolet light dramatically increases the risk of developing skin cancer. Basal cell skin cancer and squamous cell skin cancer are treatable when detected early, but melanoma can be fatal.
Benefits of Sun Exposure
Some studies preach the benefits of sun exposure. Tanning and exposure to sunlight has been shown to improve Vitamin D deficiencies, help with Seasonal Affective Disorder and aid in the treatment of certain kinds of depression. Some researchers claim that tanning regularly helps protect the body against melanoma.
Bottom Line
Getting a natural tan is never completely safe. Although indoor tanning is regulated and controlled, and outdoor tanning is less intense, exposure to ultraviolet light is still one of the biggest
risk factors for skin cancer. The only safe way to get a tan is to use a self-tanning product or a salon-administered
